DIXIELAND AND BLUEGRASS MUSIC

No music reflects the historic roots and southern hospitality of North Carolina and South Carolina more than Dixieland  Jazz and Bluegrass.  Both Carolinas host many jazz festivals, large and small, that feature good Dixieland Bands throughout both states.   In addition, Bluegrass bands enjoy performing at festivals, large and small, in the mountains and foothills as well as the coastlands of North Carolina and South Carolina.

Recognizing the importance of this music in the Carolinas, Custom Music has made a point of representing some of the finest Dixieland and Bluegrass bands in the south.   It just happens that they all reside in North and South Carolina.   Along with festivals, these bands have grown to be very popular for a wide variety of events such as store openings, corporate affairs, open houses, sales meetings, political rallies and private parties.

Our friendly staff would welcome the opportunity of assisting you in selecting one of these great bands for your next theme party or special event!

BLUEGRASS BANDS

FlintHill - Download Sound Clip
Though still developing their original style, FlintHill has as much combined musical experience as many of today’s premiere acts.  Coming together through friendship and love for bluegrass songs, complex vocal arrangements and solid instrumental work blend to form a unique sound.  It’s bluegrass with an edgy and soulful side – good music!

If you haven’t heard FlintHill yet – be patient, you will.  These boys are on to something they can claim as their own.  When you get a chance, check them out.   You’ll be glad you did!

Roustabouts - Download Sound Clip
The Roustabouts is a familiar name in Bluegrass circles.  Based in Charlotte, NC, this band includes some of the finest pickers and grinners in the Carolinas.  All of its members were raised on Bluegrass, either through a family lifestyle, recordings or both.  Its members were featured in a Hallmark made-for-TV movie called “Best Friends for Life” which was filmed in and around the Charlotte area.

This band has been a favorite at special events such as fund raisers, pig pickin's, festivals and corporate and private parties as well as radio and TV shows.

Al Osteen & Friends
While Al Osteen can perform a variety of styles, he is well known to many in the Carolinas for his Bluegrass music.  Having honed his skills at an early age as a guitar picker, he developed them further when he moved to Nashville and became a part of the Grand Ol’ Opryl

After several years in Nashville, Al returned to his roots in Greenville, SC where he found some talented players with the same love of music that he has. This includes his wife Becky who plays bass with the group.  Having established a good rapport among themselves, Al Osteen & Friends developed an equally good repertoire and have been pickin’ and grinin’ together ever since.

In addition to Bluegrass music, the band can perform everything from Cajun and Cowboy to Old Country, and yes, some good swingin’ jazz when appropriate…..  And for Bluegrass connoisseurs, Al Osteen and his friends are hard to beat.
